Help us test Homeward Paws

Try the app before it launches on Google Play and tell us what works and what doesn't. Sign up below and we'll email you the download link and simple install steps.

What beta testing involves

  • You install a test version of the app on your Android phone, straight from this website.
  • You create an account, register your animals and try the features. Missing reports and sightings you publish are visible to other app users, so only report real cases, or animal details clearly marked as a test when we ask you to try a flow.
  • You tell us about bugs, confusing screens or ideas by replying to any beta email, or writing to info@homewardpaws.org.za.
  • We send you a new download link when there's an update. Test versions can have bugs, and we may reset test data before the public launch. We'll tell you first.

Who can join

  • Anyone in South Africa aged 18 or older.
  • You need an Android phone. There is no iPhone version yet.
  • It's free. There are no payments or subscriptions.

Installing the test app

  1. Open the download link in our email on your Android phone.
  2. When your phone asks, allow your browser to install apps from this source. Android shows this for any app installed outside Google Play.
  3. Open Homeward Paws, sign up with your email, and enter the 6-digit code we email you.

When we release an update, open the newest download link and install it over the app you have. Your account and animals are kept.
